You can find this chemical compound in white solid crystalline, but the most common form is as a fine white powder. Taste of baking soda is an alkaline and a little bit salty. This powder is used in ancient Egypt for creation of paint for hieroglyphics.
The first factory of baking soda is built in New York in 1846, and it was established by John Dwight and Austin Church.
Since it can be used for a variety of things, baking soda became the indispensable thing in every home. You can use it as a toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, to clean house or even in medical purposes.
Medical Uses of Baking Soda:
- If you mix baking soda and water, you will get an effective antacid
- You can remove splinters with it
- You can increase pH levels with baking soda
- If you have an allergic reaction from poison ivy, just make a mixture of baking soda and water and apply it on the skin
- Kidney failure can also be treated with the addition of sodium bicarbonate, and studies have shown a decrease in the progression of this severe disease when sodium bicarbonate is used
Many people don’t know, but sodium bicarbonate is essential for healthy living. It is produced in our body for the protection of kidneys, and it is produced by pancreas and kidneys itself. But, when something disrupts these two organs from producing sodium bicarbonate, acid can build up in the body. At some point the body will require a treatment that will remove acid.
Healing of Kidneys with Baking Soda
Metabolic acidosis is a condition where the body suffers due to lack of sodium bicarbonate.
Dr. Thomas P. Kennedy said that reducing the incidence of nephropathy can be done even when the sodium bicarbonate solution is substituted for saline infusion.
Only in the UK, more than 3 million people have a chronic kidney disease, and about 37,800 patients are in need for renal replacement therapy, and that care costs about $45,165 per one year.
The Whitechapel hospital, placed in Royal London, conducted a study about sodium bicarbonate. The study has shown that sodium bicarbonate can decrease the effects of kidney disease, making the huge difference.
Magdi Yaqoob, the team leader and the Professor of Renal Medicine stated this was the first randomized controlled study about sodium bicarbonate and its effects on kidney failure.
In this study 134 patients participated and they all had advanced kidney disease and metabolic acidosis. Just a randomly selected small group took one tablet a day, that contained a small batch of sodium bicarbonate for 365 days. The group who took these tablets had decreased the progress of the disease for 2/3, unlike the untreated group.
This simple and cheap solution can improve the quality of life for the patients with this severe condition and also clinical results that can erase the need for dialysis.
Next testing will be conducted with a placebo group, just to see how effective sodium bicarbonate is, actually, but the past study showed really promising results.
