Homemade soup is considered a cure for over decades, but many people will rather reach for a medicine prescribed by a doctor than go for a remedy our grandmothers used to give us when we were children. It is time to try some other solutions when we get cold, flu or similar.
There are numerous vegetables that have natural ingredients that fight infections, like garlic for example. Also, it was proven by researchers from the University of Washington in a survey they conducted not that long ago.
Ingredients for the soup needed:
- 50 garlic cloves, cleaned and peeled
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 2 large onions, minced
- 1 cup fatty sour cream
- 3 cups stale bread, diced
- 1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
- 6 glasses (250 ml each) clear chicken soup (as a base)
- 1 bunch fresh herbs – parsley, thyme, bay leaves (you can use dried spices)
- 2 tsp olive oil
How to prepare the soup:
Peel all the garlic and put it in a kitchen foil with some added oil. Preheat the oven on 180 degrees and roast garlic for 90 minutes. When it is done, leave it to cool down.
Take a pan and melt butter and olive oil in it. Stew minced onion and then add roasted garlic. But before you add the garlic don’t forget to squeeze the excess oil from the pan. Stir well and add chicken soup thyme and herbs. Reduce the temperature to low and add bread croutons.
To finish the soup, remove the herbs and blend it all together. Add sour cream to get creamy texture. This soup is incredibly tasteful and healthy.
