Truffles are underground fungi with a unique taste and a high price that represent one of the most powerful aphrodisiacs in the world for many people. They have been served to Roman emperors in the ancient days and they have been given some amazing attributes. Cicero called them “the sons of the Earth”, while Pliny called them “the wonders of nature”
The explanation, why people all over the globe are going crazy for this aphrodisiac lies within a recently proven fact that there are pheromones in truffles, which are a chemical substance responsible for our increase in sexual activity.
Europe is rich with truffles. There is 180 known sorts, but about ten of them are edible, most of which can only be harvested and grown in parts of Italy and Southern France.
There’s the white truffle that grows in the gray soil and the black truffle that grows in the red soil. The white truffle has a very strong taste and is considered as one of the best sort of truffles out there, but it’s also the most expensive as well. It looks a lot like a potato. When it comes to the black truffle, it has a weaker taste than the white one, and it can grow up to the size of an apple.
Truffles are most commonly prepared as additions to many kinds of pastry, meat and eggs.
When used as an aphrodisiac, scientists recommend up to 20 grams per person, because there’s a whole bunch of calcium, potassium, magnesium and other minerals that strengthen our muscles and bones, which ultimately result in a bigger sexual desire.
