Eyes are one of the most important sensory organs of our bodies and are very sensitive too. They need to be looked after well and we should ensure that they are in the best of health at all times.
We all have experienced having sore eyes some time or the other. It is a very irritating condition and long term soreness may also lead to complications having permanent effect on your eyesight.
Soreness can happen due to many reasons – some may be as simple as excessive rubbing of eyes or just a reaction to common cold while it may also be allergy in which case it may last for 2 to 3 weeks. While it is best to take preventive action by keeping the eyes protected at all times and avoiding unnecessary rubbing but sometimes it cannot be avoided and it leads to a situation with which leads to puffiness of the eyes.
Keeping your eyes protected is of course the best method to overcome the symptoms faster but wearing shades every time you step out maybe a bit too much; and in any case it can only hide the condition but cannot improve it too much.
However, there are many home remedies which can come handy. Some of them are given below
Splashing eyes with cold water has a curative effect on the conjunctiva and helps in soothing the inflamed blood vessels.
Using Apple Vinegar
Equal proportion of organic Apple Vinegar and water can be and used for washing the eyes using a cotton ball reduces. This would reduce the infection by killing the bacteria.
Believe it or not, crying helps; because tears have a mild antibacterial property that washes away bacteria. It also helps lubricating the eyes.
Baking soda is present in all households and has many medicinal uses. You can make a solution by using a tea spoon of baking soda in cup filled with slightly warm water. Then place your eyes in this without closing them or blinking. Also try to roll the eyeballs too so that the baking soda solution removes all the bacteria and impurities.
Using chilled spoons
You can place a few pairs of steel spoons in a glass of iced water. When they become cold lie down and place 2 spoons at a time, one on each and enjoy the soothing, cooling feeling. When the spoons become warm just replace them with another pair and continue this for about 15 minutes. It will give a lot of soothing effect on the eyes and remove sore feeling to a large extent.
