Another significant factor is the amount of sugar present in our bloodstream – the higher blood sugar levels, the hungrier you will feel. So, there are foods known to cause your blood sugar to spike – eat them and you will find yourself eating more than necessary, and eventually sabotaging your weight loss goals.
So, here is the list of the foods you should avoid.
White flour can cause your blood sugar skyrocket. It is scientifically proven that people who eat a couple of servings of white bread daily are more likely to become overweight than those who didn’t.
If fish is healthy why wouldn’t sushi be healthy also? You end up eating more rice than fish. Nutritionists claim an 8-piece serving of California rolls equals to 3 slices of white bread.
Juices are also packed with numerous calories, but are poor in nutrients such as fiber found in pulp or skin. This explains why juices can increase blood sugar and leave you hungry. Always opt for homemade smoothies.
Salty treats are nothing else but simple carbs that are absorbed easily, spiking your blood sugar levels. Additionally, your brain immediately associates instant energy supply with sweets, so you usually end up eating something sugary after having salty treats.
If you thought low-fat yogurt will help you keep your lean figure, guess again. This is because it is low in fat, the number of carbs are increased. Better solution for you would be to grab a small portion of Greek yogurt and add some nuts, seeds or fruits in it.
Alcohol will make you hungry and you will binge eat after drinking it, no doubts. Alcohol also hacks the level of leptin, (a hormone which regulates fat storage)by as much as 30 percent.
MSG – Containing Foods
MSG stands for monosodium glutamate. MSG is an artificial flavor most commonly found in Chinese dishes and canned foods, such as soups and vegetables. Also, it can be found in processed meats. Science claims any food which contains MSG will increase your appetite up to 40 percent. It is a harmful flavor which can damage your hypothalamus, and dull the effect of the hormone leptin.
Anything with Artificial Sweeteners
If you eat foods which contain sucralose, aspartame, and other artificial sweeteners, you will be eating 0 calories. But, do you think it is good for you? These foods will only trick your brain, and you will end up with eating something sweet that actually has calories. So, you are again in this vicious circle of eating tons of sugar.
Chewing gum will only leave you feeling hungrier as your stomach fill itself with digestive juices, thinking that there is some food to be eaten. Try avoiding it when you are actually hungry, and eat some proper food.
