People who daily consume about one teaspoon of ground cumin lose weight three times faster than people who are on a diet or do not consume this spice.
Scientists from the Institute of Medical Sciences Iranian Shahid Sadoughi came to the realization that people who daily consume about one teaspoon of ground cumin three times faster to lose weight than people who are on a diet or do not consume the spice.
The researched that was conducted on 88 obese women showed that taking cumin can improve overall health. All of the women decreased their calorie intake for 500 and they were advised to have a healthier diet.
Half of them also got the advice to eat 3 grams of ground cumin, mixed with non-fat, non-sugar yoghurt.
After three months it is showed that they lost weight. They lost about 1,5 kilos more than the women who didn’t eat cumin. They also decreased fat in the body for 14 percent. Impressive, right?
But, that is not all: cumin helped them to decrease cholesterol level for twice as much as the other group did.
If you don’t like eating cumin with yogurt, try adding it to the food. You can put it on the veggies, or even guacamole. Eat it with nutty fruits instead of chips.
Other ways to consume the cumin:
- Use it when you make hummus or guacamole
- Sprinkle it over nuts or other healthy snacks
- Use it to spice your lentil soup
- Add ground cumin to veggies
- Add it to plain brown rice to give it an exotic taste
- Mix in dried apricots and almonds
