We all have been through it at some time or the other. Yes, I am talking about diet plans and our tireless efforts to stick to a particular diet; and we fail repeatedly as we realize that it never works out for a long time.

I am writing this from my own experience. Recently when I tried to go on a diet and I did manage to stick on it for some time but then again after a few days, like every other time, I fell off and started on binge eating again. But I tried to get back and learnt a few lessons in the bargain which I want to share with you.

Before I go into it I would like to tell you that whatever happens just don’t give up and don’t beat yourself for being like that because it is normal and we all are in the same boat.

Having said that, I am going to tell you about a few tricks and tips that would make you overcome this problem of falling on and off the dietary cycle.

I mean just look around. It is not an easy world that we live in. After all we are surrounded by Glitz and glamour of modern world of advertisement which aims at increased consumption. We live in a gluten filled world and are continuously being targeted to consume all those things that look rich, nice, and fluffy and are sugary. What is more important is not giving up but to overcome this temptation and try to stick to your diet whatever happens; and I am sure you would succeed.

Don’t blame yourself and yet be responsible

We are humans not robots and hence are prone to fail at times; but that doesn’t mean you start disbelieving in yourself and start feeling guilty. It is best to understand the fact that it is natural to sometimes give in to temptations; so instead of blaming yourself you should start accepting responsibility and avoid such situations that lead to losing your focus, that’s about all.

Make a note of how you feel at various occasions.

Keep a notebook handy and make a note of how you feel at different times. Don’t you remember how having excess sugar and carbohydrates make you feel lethargic? Besides, it also gives you physical symptoms like stomach upset and sometimes makes you sleep excessively. So why not make a note of it. Also reflect how being on a diet made you feel light and wonderful. Reiterate that you aim at indulging yourself to good feeling by keeping yourself on this “feel good” diet.
