There are only so many hours in a day, which means you have to find time to make yourself look good. Often, it’s easier said than done– but these clever and time-saving tips are definitely worth incorporating into your beauty routine.
1. Don’t skimp on sunscreen
Never trust sunscreens that claim “all-day” protection. Make sure to reapply every two or three hours, especially if you burn easily.
2. Clarify your hair-ify
Use a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove the buildup from any products you use.
3. Tease your hair
If you want to add volume to limp hair, try using a dry shampoo spray.
4. Soothe achy feet
For an invigorating foot massage, try running the soles of your feet over a golf ball or rolling pin.
5. Put extra eye cream to good use
Don’t just wipe it away– put it on your cuticles! Doing this regularly will give you stronger nails.
6. Stop zits before they happen
Look for cleansers that contain salycilic acid or benzoyl peroxide. If you see a pimple, try applying tea tree oil.
7. Don’t neglect your makeup kit
Always, always, ALWAYS keep your makeup brushes clean to prevent bacteria buildup. Just swish them around in warm, soapy water once a week, then lay flat to air dry.
8. Don’t over-exfoliate
You risk drying out your skin by exfoliating too often. Try limiting it to once every two to three days. Also, use a gentler exfoliator on your face, saving the coarser stuff for the rest of your body.
9. Too much shine?
Try using a matte moisturizer to flatten out the light that hits your skin. If you have greasy skin, some moisturizers can just make the effect worse.
10. Defeat that painful ingrown toenail
Try soaking your foot in warm, soapy water for 15-20 minutes a day. Keep it dry when you aren’t soaking it.
11. Crush those calluses
Use a pumice stone after you’ve soaked in a warm bath to grind down the calluses on your feet.
12. Use the right shampoo for the job
If you dye your hair, you can keep the color vibrant longer by using a shampoo specially formulated for dyed hair.
13. Save money by downsizing
If you use certain products sparingly, buy travel-sized versions instead.
14. Customize your lotion
You don’t have to settle for the pre-existing lotion scents on store shelves. Just buy unscented lotion, add some of your favorite perfume, and stir.
15. No more lipstick prints
Just lick the rim of a cup before you drink from it to avoid covering it with lipstick smudges.
16. Speed up your metabolism
It isn’t fair, but men tend to have faster metabolisms than women. Kick-start your body by getting 150 minutes of aerobic activity a week. That isn’t much– just thirty minutes of walking, five times a week.
17. Smooth out your bronzer
Mix a few drops of bronzer with moisture cream, then apply it to your skin. This stops things from getting uneven.
